The suite of six offices, developed by the Means Renewal Limited, a company set up by two local businessmen Peter Williams and Paul Silcox, was supported by a Property Development Grant from Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government.
West End Yard has been built to high environmental standards and transformed what was once a derelict site on one of Llanelli’s main gateways.
The Mount
The Mount is positioned on a prominent site at the top of Goal Hill, adjacent to the County Hall in the centre of Carmarthen.
This office building replaced an original listed building which had fallen into disrepair. As the building is within a conservation area Listed Building consent was a requirement and public consultation approved the building design.
It is a bespoke office building designed specifically for Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS), which is a County Council sponsored organisation, and provides 782 square metres of floor space providing offices, meeting rooms, library, IT suite, and a recording studio. The design incorporated extensive facilities for visually and physically disabled clients of the voluntary organisations. The Mount acts as a centre in the town for voluntary services to use as a ‘drop in’ and a facility to use meeting rooms and offices.
