Don’t Let Go!
Don’t Let Go is a campaign that hopes to raise awareness around the dangers to wildlife when releasing lots of balloons or sky lanterns outdoors. The Marine Conversation Society and Keep Wales Tidy are running a petition to ban outdoor releases, find out more information and access the petition here.
What a washout this summer has been...
...not good for us and definitely not good for most butterflies!
Butterfly Conservation’s big butterfly count is taking place between 14th July and 5th August. Could you help us find out how our butterflies are faring by counting any you see for 15 minutes during bright (preferably sunny) weather? Records are welcome from anywhere: parks, school grounds, gardens, fields or forests! Find out more or send in your sightings online.
Stop...Look...Listen!
Wherever you are in the county, if you stop, look and listen there is wildlife (and wildness) all around you. From lichens to larches and bees to buzzards if you take the time to look you will always see or hear some of the amazing range of wildlife that occurs in Carmarthenshire.
Let us know what you see by filling in the form on the Council’s website. We’d like records from all over the county - common or rare - so we get a picture of what people are seeing in one of the most diverse counties in Wales. If you see something and you don’t know what it is then take a photo and send it in – we’ll try and identify it for you!
Biodiversity is literally the diversity of life on earth.
It embraces all living plants and animals and the ecosystems on which they depend. It is found all around us, in gardens, parks, roadside verges, fields, mountains, rivers and in the sea. There are a number of ways in which we can help conserve biodiversity in Carmarthenshire and everyone can take part! Even simple changes can make a difference.
