Submit your planning application online

We encourage you to submit your applications online using the forms service on the Planning Portal.

Using the Portal online forms service you can:

l Identify and complete the application form
l Attach supporting documentation
l Calculate fees for the application
l Pay for the application
l Check that the application is complete
l Submit the application to the local planning authority

All plans must have a scale bar, key dimensions, the direction of North, original paper size and scale (eg 1:200 at A3) clearly marked upon them.

While not compulsory, submitting plans and drawings on A3 will help us  process your application more efficiently. For example, consider placing fewer elevations on smaller page sizes, even if this means submitting more documents.

For consistency it is recommended that you use the following file types, for supporting documents, wherever possible.

l Images/plans: pdf, bmp, gif, jpg/jpeg, plt, png, tif/tiff
l Documents: pdf, doc, rtf, txt, xls
l Video: avi, mpg/mpeg, wmv

The maximum size for a single attachment is 5Mb and the maximum size limit for attachments for applications submitted via the Planning Portal is 25Mb.

Download the guidance document to view further details on the above steps.
