Referees

As with any sport we always need more referees to be trained and available to referee games – without them we simply would not be able to to play!

Opportunity for Referee Training

The Level 1 European Touch Referee Course is taking place on Sunday 25th March 2012 between 12pm and 3pm in the Training Barn at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli.  We recommend that all teams send at least one representative to this course in order to better understand the rules and also help to referee games if a problem arises with the usual referee.

The Level 1 course fee is £12 per person.

Practical Assessment:

Total time for this Competency (Level 1 Referee Badge qualification) = 3 Hours

There are numerous benefits for those involved as Touch referees:

Involvement in a dynamic and exciting new league
An opportunity to keep fit during the close rugby union season
Possible involvement at other tournaments across Wales and the UK during the Summer months
Opportunities to progress onto national framework and tour with national teams
Cyffwrdd Sir Gar Touch Referees will receive a £5 Picton Sports voucher for every league game that they referee.
There are up to 3 games per night over an 8 week season, so it is possible to earn up to £120 of Picton Sports vouchers.  Vouchers will be paid on a weekly basis following games on a Thursday evening.

Touch at grassroots level all the way up to the national level is played in the right spirit and a player’s honesty in whether a touch was made or not is what guides referee’s decisions in borderline cases.

Referees can expect to officiate in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Cyfwrdd Sir Gâr Touch does not tolerate excessive unneccessary criticism or abuse of it’s referees and players guilty of this may be subject to playing bans.
