Help us set real nappy world record
MUMS and dads in Carmarthenshire with babies in nappies are being urged to help set a world record.
A Guinness™ World Record Nappy Changing Challenge is being held at the St Elli Shopping Centre in Llanelli on Saturday, April 23.
Carmarthenshire County Council is hosting the event and is appealing to mums and dads to come along and join in the fun.
As well as hopefully setting a new world record on the number of real cloth nappies changed simultaneously around the world, there will be fun and games for all the family.
Children’s entertainers ‘Entertainment Explosion’ will be leading the fun, kids can get arty with Trysordy, and there will be stalls including Mothercare and Nappy Go Lucky, as well as lots of information and advice.
Council waste minimisation/recycling officer Karen Fulham said: “The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the benefits of using real nappies instead of disposables, not only are they better for the environment but they are better for baby and cheaper in the long-run too.
“If you want to find out more you can come along on the day, or if you just want to join in the fun we would be delighted to see you.
“We are also looking for volunteers to help set the world record, so if you would like to go down in history please get in touch.”
The world record attempt is the brainchild of Judy Aagard of Tiny Tots in California as a way to show the world that cloth nappies are a real option for today's families. After initial contacts with Guinness™ World Records she saw the potential to help further enhance the cloth nappy movement, while setting a world record. The event is being held on Earth Day – where parents from around the world will join together changing nappies and people's attitudes.
The Great Real Nappy and Baby Fun Day starts at 10am with the world record attempt at 5pm.
