Please find below information about Pendine's one week residential stay for school pupils.

One week’s residential
Pupils visit for a five-day week from Monday to Friday and undertake a programme of outdoor pursuits and environmental studies, as shown in the sample timetable. Qualified and experienced instructors at the centre lead all activities with the visiting teacher accompanying. On a Thursday we tend to have a big “day out” away from the Centre to a place of interest.

As well as daytime activities, pupils undertake weather recordings and there is a selection of follow up activity work sheets. The children are also encouraged to write a diary each day to reflect on their experiences and as a keepsake.

Notes:
A member of the centre staff is on duty each evening to assist the teachers as necessary, once they have left the site they are on call for the night.

On booking the school will be sent a pack containing guidelines for schools and parents as well as medical forms, instructor qualifications & safety information. We encourage teachers from new schools to come and have a look round the Centre before booking.

Due to the popularity of the centre and seasonal trends, a booking system is in place whereby schools take it in turns to have a summer booking and then an autumn or spring booking. Schools book up two years ahead.

Other courses
Booking a one-day activity course is becoming very popular, particularly in the winter. Many schools use it as a taster day for year 4 pupils so they have an insight into the centre and help dispel any fears they may have. A popular combination is orienteering and abseiling

The activities are flexible, outside the water sports season we do a fieldwork activitiy in place of this.

Other activities can be discussed as options during the week. Evening activities are also flexible depending on the individual schools and what they wish to pursue and time of year.

In the winter, art sessions are offered on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.
