Carmarthenshire County Council actively encourages dog owners to act responsibly and clear up after their dogs.

It is now illegal under The Dog Fouling of Land Act 1996 to not clear up the mess left by your dog.

This applies to all parks and open spaces under local authority control, all roads and pavements, including roadways and gutters, open spaces and highway verges within speed limits of 40mph.  Enforcement officers inspect these areas regularly.

Those that leave their mess behind are liable to a £75 fixed penalty notice.

Failure to pay within 14 days could result in £1,000 fine through prosecution in the Magistrates Court.

If you have witnessed a dog-fouling incident in your area please contact Carmarthenshire Direct on telephone: 01267 234567, or email: direct@carmarthenshire.gov.uk .

You can now report a dog-fouling incident online by completing our Online Dog Fouling Report Form below.
