STEPs II Project Cam Cyntaf

Welcome to Carmarthenshire County Council’s S.T.E.P.’S II (Supported Training & Employment Projects) Service at Cam Cyntaf Carmarthen.

We are able to offer opportunities for People with Learning Difficulties wishing to develop their skills, within a range of programmes, with the appropriate level of support.

Employment placements in partnership with statutory private and voluntary agencies will be explored, to enable individuals to choose from a range of jobs that suit their needs.

What is the STEPS II Project

In response to the requirements of the ‘Fulfilling the Promises’ (National Assembly For Wales) and the Best Value Review 2001, the Joint Planning and Commissioning Team launched a structure for developing better services for People with Learning Difficulties in Carmarthenshire (2003 - 2010).

The aim of the Employment Strategy is to improve and modernise Day Services, to provide more opportunities for Life Long Learning, career planning, valued occupation, voluntary work and supported employment.

Employment and education allows people to develop new skills throughout their lives in appropriate work settings. This will increase people’s confidence and independence.

During 2003 the Modernising Day Services/Employment Strategy Group, met and consulted with service users and they have identified a list of meaningful activities that are being developed from S.T.E.P.’S II, Cam Cyntaf.
