If you know or suspect that someone is committing fraud please report it.

The Council is committed to ensuring that people receive their correct entitlement to housing benefit and council tax and every effort is made to deal with all claims as quickly as possible.

However, the Council is also committed to fighting benefit fraud and will actively investigate cases where fraud is suspected.

How can I report a suspected benefits fraud?

You can pass information about suspected fraud to the County Council:

Contacting the DWP

The National Benefit Fraud Hotline is a confidential way for the public to pass factual information about suspected fraudulent benefit claimants to the Department for Work and Pensions.

This includes benefits administered by local authorities.

The hotline can be contacted in the following ways:

  • on line by completing the report a cheat online form.
  • by phone in confidence on 0800 854440
  • people with speech or hearing problems using a textphone can dial 0800 3280512.
