Cross Hands

Cross Hands West (West Tip)
The project aims to establish and develop a partnership with the private sector to bring forward the regeneration proposals for the West Tip. The brownfield development site is strategically located adjacent to the A48 and Cross Hands village centre and its mixed use redevelopment includes a new food store, residential areas, healthcare facilities including a care home and new medical centre, office space, recreation and open spaces, community use and a new transport hub.

Cross Hands East
Carmarthenshire County Council intends to develop a strategic employment site at Cross Hands East in partnership with the Welsh Government. The project will offer fully serviced plots of land to meet the demands of local indigenous businesses wishing to start up or expand as well as offering opportunity for inward investment.

The project will provide Carmarthenshire with the physical infrastructure necessary for the development of a competitive local economy along with an adequate supply of suitable employment land to meet demand over the next 10-15 years.

Key stages of the project will include:
• Land acquisition
• Detailed design
• Planning consents
• The construction infrastructure to produce a readily available site for the development of employment/business accommodation by the private sector.

Cross Hands Food Park
The Cross Hands Food Park is the first designated centre of excellence for food technology in the whole of Wales, is a joint venture between Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government, and is the centre piece of the county’s economic strategy. It is well placed at the heart of a vibrant food producing county with numerous high quality suppliers based nearby thus reducing food miles for production. The Food Park incorporating Incubator Food Production Units is fully serviced for all major food processing activities, is uncluttered and has full access roads in place.

That is why key businesses have committed to growing their businesses here. Irish company Dawn Pac, despite other options and locations, twice expanded and now occupies a 200,000 sq ft food processing facility on 20 acres of the 50 acre Food Park.
Cross Hands Food Park is only one in a portfolio of development sites, all within minutes of the M4 and a large skilled workforce within short driving distance. A total of £50million has been invested here, with the aim of providing opportunities for food producers and ancillary support businesses to add value to the raw product.
