FACILITIES AND SAFETY

Group accommodation at Pendine consists of 20 ‘bunk rooms’, each having 3 sets of bunks and divided between 4 dormitories. Each dorm also has a leaders twin en suite room. A separate block has a further 5 twin rooms. This totals 138 beds.

There are adequate bathroom facilities as well as a full commercial kitchen and dining hall to cater for a full centre.

The site itself is about 2 acres and has a climbing/abseil tower, high and low ropes courses, a 35m zip wire, indoor and outdoor bouldering walls as well as a football field and games area. Some activities take place on the beach or in the sea just 5 minutes walk from the front gate and we have a partnership with a local woodland where we do our Orienteering, Bushcraft and Gorge walking.

Many other activities and Field studies take place within driving distance, along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, on the Preseli hills and at the many interesting local venues including Norman castles, aquariums and natural history sites.

The Centre is fully equipped to cater for residential adventure activity courses for up to 10 groups of 12 clients. Groups are provided with all watersports kit for sea, estuary and river based activities, all safety equipment for tower activities as well as waterproof clothing, rucksacks etc where required.

Centre minibuses driven by qualified staff and local coach companies are used for off site activities and our fleets of Kayaks, Canadian canoes and surf skis are transported by trailers behind our 4 x 4.

Pendine OEC is inspected on an annual basis by ‘The Adventure Activities Licensing Authority’ and is licensed accordingly, registration number L6983/R0190.
All instructors have the relevant National Governing Body awards or site specific qualification for their relevant activities as determined by the Risk Assessments which are available for inspection at the Centre office.
All staff also hold current First Aid qualifications which are updated every 3 years.
