Pendine Outdoor Education Centre caters for school groups from Carmarthenshire as well as Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Swansea with increasing enquiries and bookings coming from further afield.
The Residential Activity Stay
Schools traditionally visit Pendine for a five-day residential activity stay from Monday to Friday and undertake a programme of outdoor pursuits and environmental studies. The activities are led by centre staff who have a wealth of experience and qualifications in varying fields including Geography, PE and Science teachers, Mountaineering, Climbing and Canoe instructors and former Commonwealth Games coaches.
All staff are qualified to, at least the minimum requirement for the relevant National Governing Bodies and the Adventure Activities
On booking the school will be sent a pack containing guidelines for schools and parents as well as medical forms, safety information, kit list etc. We encourage teachers from new schools to come and have a look around the Centre before booking and we offer a service to visit new schools to do a presentation to parents and teachers.
3 and 4 day courses are also becoming popular, especially in the ‘fringe season’ when discounts may be available.
Non Residential Courses
The Centre also provides day courses which schools sometimes use as a ‘taster’ for the younger pupils, the itinerary can include any of the activities offered on the residential courses.
Off Site Expeditions
These have become popular over the past 5 or 6 years and we now take a number of schools on day trips to Pen y Fan and the Preseli hills as well as weekend expeditions to Snowdonia and Mid Wales.
We also offer open canoe journeys down the Taf and the Teify and will consider preparing any bespoke journey with our experience and qualifications.
