What is Engage? 

The Engage Carmarthenshire Top Ten

  1. It is a regional European project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) under Convergence. 
  2. The project started in September 2009 and is funded until November 30th 2012.
  3. Regionally the project is worth £32.5 M, and within CCC we have just under £6m.
  4. The project is led by Neath Port Talbot and includes the colleges and the local authorities in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
  5. Engage focuses on the needs of young people aged 14-19 who are NEET (not in employment, education or training) or at risk of becoming NEET.
  6. Engage will be targeting 13,401 young people who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET. In CCC we have a target to meet the needs of 2,669 young people who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET.
  7. There is a strong emphasis on accreditation and getting young people re-engaged in employment, education and training.
  8. There is an element of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) training for female participants.
  9. The Engage strands of delivery within CCC include YOPS, NEET youth work, Work related learning, mentoring/ work placement, Alternative curriculum, and Information.
  10. Engage strands to be procured in Carmarthen include outreach youth services to include emotional intelligence and health & fitness activities; increasing volunteering opportunities, and services in Llanelli Hub Project to include IT, basic skills and driving theory preparation.
