The Care Home Strategic Working Group was set up in October 2008.  The core group comprises representatives from the Independent Sector, Hywel Dda Health Board and Officers of the Department .  The group is able to draw on the specialist knowledge and expertise of individuals as required.

The meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and one of the purposes of the group is to collate and analyse data available on the care home sector. This will include data on bed capacity, care home developments and adult protection referrals .  The group also shares information on policy, practice and current trends within the sector.
