Older People's Services 

There are times when older people who, because of disability or infirmity find it increasingly difficult to manage on their own. 

Most people prefer to stay in their own homes but some need help in order to do so.

If you or someone you know has care needs, we can arrange and provide support and services that can help maximise your  independence and quality of life.   older people

We will work with you to identify the sort of care and support services you need to help you live as safely and independenly as you can.

We also have a range of services available to help people with a sensory impairment keep as much independence and control over their lives as possible.

Services we can arrange include: 

Assessment and Enablement Service provides short-term support to people following a period of illness, disability or loss of self-confidence.

Long-term Home Care Service provides personal care and assistance with day to day living to people who wish to continue to live in their own homes, but for reasons of illness or disability need long-term help to do so.

Immediate Response Night Care Service is an out of hours social care emergency response service that responds to planned and unplanned non-medical personal care calls during the night.

Telecare is an assistive technology monitoring service that provides sensors around the home that will raise an alarm to a monitoring centre in the event of an incident or emergency.

Aids and adaptations if your home doesn't suit your needs, there are various options available that could help you live more independently.

Sheltered Housing is a group of flats or bungalows where all residents are older people (usually over 55).  They provide independent, self-contained homes with some common facilities that all residents can use.

Community Meals Servce can provide quality two course meals at midday in people's own homes.  A hot meal delivery is available to Service Users on agreed days throughout the year including public holidays.  The frozen meals service offers a wide choice of main meals and desserts delivered ready to be stored in your freezer.

Day Care Centres offer individuals who require assistance with personal care opportunities to socialise.  There are three Day Care Centres in the county, the Myrddin Centre in Carmarthen, Llys y Bryn in Llanelli and Cwmaman in Aman Gwendraeth.

There are currently 30 luncheon clubs in the county that provide people with opportunities to socialise and in the majority of the clubs hot meals are also provided.  Some clubs also hold health and well-being activities and other social events.  The clubs are run either by volunteers, 3rd sector organisations or as private ventures.  For details of what is available in your area, please click on the relevant document below:
