The Telecare Service is for people living in the community who may need assistance to continue to live independently, people living with dementia and their carers, people at risk of falling, vulnerable people leaving hospital and people living with chronic illnesses.
Equipment is provided to support the individual in their home and it is tailored to meet their needs. Telecare consists of various sensors placed around the home, they are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If a sensor detects an incident it will alert the monitoring center (Careline) and enable appropriate action to be taken.
The list of telecare sensors is continuing to grow but here are a few examples:
Property Exit Sensor
The alarm monitors people leaving a property between pre-set times and will raise an alarm, which can be directed to a scheme manager's handset, carer pager, mobile phone or monitoring centre. The sensor can also be set to raise an alarm if a door has been left open. |
Carbon Monoxide Detector
Warns of dangerous Carbon Monoxide Levels within a property, allowing the appropriate action to be taken. |
Bed/Chair Occupancy Sensor
Provides an early warning by alerting the montioring ceentre that the user has left their bed/chair and not returned within a predetermined time period. |

To receive Telecare you will need to be assessed. To receive an assessment you can either telephone the Telecare team on 01558 825395 or contact Careline+ on 01267 224466. Telecare will then aim to offer you an assessment within 7 days, and providing the home environment is suitable, the Telecare package is installed on the same day.
Telecare is currently free of charge for those assessed as eligible for the service but a charge may be incurred in the near future under the Fairer Charging Policy.
