Who the service is for
The service is for older people aged 60 years and above.

The service provided
Aelwyd Housing Association provides high-quality accommodation to older people, and also helps them live independently by providing 24-hour support services.

Location
Llanelli

Type of Accommodation
Llys Caeglas has 12 self-contained flats (that is, they have their own kitchen, bathroom and private entrance), six of which are one-bedroom flats while the rest are bedsits. Each flat is accessed through individual front doors which are controlled by a door-entry system, giving tenants both privacy and security.

When the service is available
The part-time scheme manager is available at the scheme from 8.30am to 2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. When the scheme manager is off-duty, the community alarm system at the scheme provides ‘out of hours’ emergency support.

How long the service can be used for
People can use the service for as long as they need it.

How to access the service
People mainly refer themselves to the service by applying direct, but the service can accept referrals from the local authority.

Cost
The service user may need to pay for the support they receive. The service provider will help the service user to claim Housing Benefit to cover the cost of the accommodation. If the person using the service does not receive Housing Benefit, they will need to pay the rent on the accommodation that is provided. Please contact the service provider for more information about this.

This service also receives funding from the Supporting People Grant, which is paid direct to the service provider by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Supporting People section.
