Who the service is for
The service is for people aged 55 or over.
The service provided
Cymdeithas Tai Cantref have two schemes which provide a 24-hour community alarm system, including maintaining and testing the system each week.
Cymdeithas Tai Cantref uses the Careline Service provided by Carmarthenshire County Council to provide the community alarm service to its tenants.
Location
One scheme is in the Llandovery area and the other is in Pencader.
Type of Accommodation
Self-contained flats or bungalows (that is, they have their own kitchen, bathroom and private entrance).
When the service is available
Support is provided during normal office hours. An out-of-hours call service is available for emergencies that arise outside of normal office hours.
How long the service can be used for
The service can be provided as long as there is a need for it.
How to access the service
People can access the service by using the housing application form. The service gives priority to people who have the highest number of points on the housing waiting list, although the only condition for accepting applications is the age of the applicant.
Cost
The service user may need to pay for the support they receive. The service provider will help the service user to claim Housing Benefit to cover the cost of the accommodation. If the person using the service does not receive Housing Benefit, they will need to pay the rent on the accommodation that is provided. Please contact the service provider for more information about this.
This service also receives funding from the Supporting People Grant, which is paid direct to the service provider by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Supporting People section.
