| Community Alarms |
Community alarm services include dispersed and ‘hard wired’ services that are usually provided in sheltered and purpose built disabled persons’ accommodation. Community alarm services enable people to call for assistance from a call centre or an on-site member of staff.

| Floating Support |
Where support is provided in the home of the individual service user. This is usually short term as the support ‘floats off’ to someone else who needs it.

| Needs Mapping Exercise (NME) |
A data set of information on the presenting needs of individuals who require accommodation related support. This data set is to be completed by as wide range of users and potential users as is practicable in order to allow Supporting People teams to assess needs for SPRG services.

| Sheltered Housing |
Sheltered Housing is a group of flats or bungalows where all residents are older people (usually over 55). There are usually some common facilities that all residents can use - such as a residents' lounge, a garden and often a laundry.

| Permanent Supported Housing |
Where the accommodation is permanently provided with the support.
|
| Rent |
Payments for your individual flat or bungalow.
|
| Self Contained Flat |
A flat with its own kitchen, bathroom and private entrance.
|
| Service Charge |
Payment for other services e.g. communal areas and lifts.
|
| Service Provider |
An agency that provides services to people living in supported accommodation and older person’s services. This may include housing associations, local authorities, voluntaries sector or private sector bodies.

| Support Costs |
Payment for the Sheltered Scheme.
|
| Supported Housing |
This is a broad term used to describe housing where people receive support funded through the Supporting People Revenue Grant. In practice, housing may refer to a hostel, shared living environment, cluster accommodation or a person’s own home.

| Temporary Supported Housing |
Where accommodation is temporarily provided with the support. |
