Arts and Entertainment

monatge of arts

The Arts Service Section of Leisure provides contemporary arts and entertainment; arts based cultural tourism, and advocacy and advice for using arts by different sections of the County Council.

We are committed to the county's creative energy and maximising the role culture plays in the social, economic and communities of the area.

We are currently focusing on developing and improving our facilities and in strengthening our links with local organisations.

We provide for a broad range of performances, specialist exhibitions, workshops, literary events, lectures and film.  Theatrau Sir Gar / Carmarthenshire Theatres manage Llanelli Entertainment Centre for film and theatre, Lyric Theatre and Cinema in Carmarthen and the Miner's Theatre Ammanford.  The Arts Services manage Oriel Myrddin Gallery in Carmarthen, Dylan Thomas's Boathouse in Laugharne and Carmarthenshire Centre for Crafts in St Clear's.

Outside of our venue activities we support 'arts in the community'; in particular LLAIS, the county's umbrella organisation for youth theatres, we work with Arts Council of Wales in providing NIGHT OUT subsiding productions in community halls, encourage Carmarthenshire Arts Forum and it's sister body Crafts from Carmarthenshire promoting local applied arts practice.  We are currently facilitating an emerging Dance Forum.
