Community Participation
community particiaption group

Community participation is always encouraged in Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park where numerous groups and volunteers regularly get involved.

These groups and volunteers range from schools, youth club projects, international volunteers, cub and scout groups and interested parties from the community in general.

Participants are encouraged to get involved with general woodland management; conservation schemes; simple construction projects and general parkland improvement tasks.

The aim of this is to create an attractive open air site for quiet recreation and instil a sense of ownership and pride in the park users.

The work in the park is facilitated by the Park Ranger who can adapt numerous tasks to suit the needs of participating groups.

Mynydd Mawr Friends Group

Mynydd Mawr Friends Group was set up in 2006 by a handful of forward-thinking people who wanted to see more community participation opportunities in the locality.

They apply for funding to make their ideas come to fruition.

In recent years, they have had funding to put on numerous events which aim to include all members of the community.

These include Community Wood Fetes, a Community Art Project, Traditional Halloween Night Events, a traditional Christmas event, Community Fun Runs and Easter Treasure Hunts.  All the money raised in the events run by the Friends Group either goes back into future events and projects or is given to charity.
