Located off Carmarthen Street/ Llandeilo Road, Llandeilo, Penlan Park was gifted to the town by Lord Dynevor in 1908 with the parks layout being designed by the architect of the town W D Jenkins and appears that the original layout has changed little over the years.
Perhaps the greatest asset of the Park is the magnificent view across the Tywi Valley. To the South and East the view reaches across the village of Ffairfach to Tregib woods, with a glimpse of the Black Mountain in the distance marked out by the row of Bronze Age burial cairns of Tair Carn Uchaf. To the North the view is across the slate rooftops of Llandeilo. Beyond it stretches up the Tywi Valley past Iron Age hill fort of Garn Goch, towards Llangadog, with the Cambrian Mountains looming in the distance
The park is bounded in it’s entirety with the original fencing and adjoins the Dinefwr Park estate on the northern side. To the South, the park faces rear gardens of George Hill and overlooks the Tywi Valley. To the north west there is a footpath link from the park to the local footpath network to Dynefwr Castle via Castle Woods.
