Urban Walks

Carmarthen, Ammanford, Llanelli and Burry Port each have a leaflet detailing six walks around the towns. The walks are aimed at encouraging anyone living in, working in, or visiting the town to take some exercise to improve their level of fitness.

Health experts say that walking just three miles per day helps prevent, or lessen the effects of many illnesses. Walking can help to reduce blood pressure, reduce the risk of diabetes, helps with weight loss and can reduce the risk of falls, particularly in the elderly as it can improve balance, coordination and joint flexibility. Walking has mental health benefits too as activity often helps to reduce anxiety and depression.

Each walk is measured, so you know just how far you’ve been. Walks are good for both your mental and physical welfare, whether you walk in the town or in the countryside, so why not get involved and make physical activity a part of your everyday life?
