I’ve never played touch before, what do I do?
The beauty of the game is that it is very simple! The rules are very basic and can be picked up quickly. There will be many players involved that are new to the game as well as experienced players that can help along the way, so you are sure to fit in quickly!
I’ve gathered a team of people together, what’s next?.
Register your team by sending a form and season fee to our offices
Once you receive your fixtures by email distribute them to your team and try to work out in advance if there are any weeks when your team may be short-handed.
Agree a playing kit. Some existing sports teams may wish to use their current playing kit, others may wish to purchase specialist kits. If you don’t want the expense, it is easy to agree one colour for all of your team members to wear. If you do decide to design your own shirts, numbers of the back are suggested in order to help referees.
On match nights, arrange to meet at least 20-30 minutes prior to the game. It is suggested that you complete some warm-up exercises in order participate at your optimum levels. We suggest light walking and jogging, passing the ball around and some dynamic stretching type movements. Increase the intensity gradually so that you begin the game with a raised heart beat and are sweating slightly.
Do we play at the same time every week?
No - game start times vary from week to week. Each team will have one league fixture each week and this will change on a weekly basis in order to try and make it fair for all teams. There are three possible start times – 6.30pm, 7.15pm and 8.00pm. Therefore, your game may be at 6.30pm one week and 8.00pm the next and so on. Your season’s fixtures and game times will be distributed to you prior to week one so you can make travel or alternative arrangements in advance.
We’d like to play more than one 30 minute game each week…
Get in touch if you would like us to try and arrange a friendly fixture for you in addition to your league game.
I am interested in playing, but I cannot raise enough players to enter a team, can I still play?
YES! Please contact us and we will put your name(s) in a central pool of players. We can help put you in contact with a team that are looking for more members. Similarly, get in touch if your team needs some extra squad players.
We are struggling for players this week, should we call the game off?
No - please contact us and we will try to find a suitable player from our central pool to help out. Please note, only two ‘ringers’ are allowed per game. If you must cancel a game, please let us know as early as possible.
Teams that cancel games or do not show up forfeit as a walkover loss UNLESS they arrange with the opposing captain and the competition co-ordinator, to play the game at a later date. This must be agreed one week in advance of the official date of the fixture and must be done on an official form available from the co-ordinator's desk.
