As of Monday 9th February 2015, the Carmarthen Park & Ride service runs every 30 minutes instead of every 20 minutes.
This will allow the service to extend to Spilman Street and the Hospital, offering a Park-and-Ride service for those visiting or working at the Hospital, as well as meeting requests from traders for a Park-and-Ride facility to the King Street area.
The service will continue to run on Mondays to Saturdays, from 7 am to 7pm. So the first bus will leave Nantyci Car park at 7 am and thereafter every 30 minutes, with the last bus leaving the car park at 6.30 pm
The bus will then stop at the Bus Station at 7 minutes and 37 minutes past each hour. The Bus Station will become the main stopping point in the Town Centre, instead of Lammas Street which will no longer be served.
The bus will also serve St.Peter’s bus stop on Spilman Street at 9 minutes and 39 minutes past each hour, the bus shelter at Nash Avenue opposite the new Hospital entrance at 14 and 44 minutes past each hour, and the bus shelter opposite the main entrance to the Hospital at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour.
Passengers travelling back to the Car Park at Nantyci from the town centre will catch the bus on its way to the Hospital, so the last bus back to the car park will be 6.37 pm from the Bus Station, 6.39 pm from St.Peter’s bus stop, 6.44 pm from the bus shelter at Nash Avenue, and 6.45 pm from the bus shelter opposite the Hospital’s main entrance.
Passengers can travel between any of the stopping points listed above. Fares will be comparable to other local bus services, and passengers will be able to buy or use return tickets, 12 trip tickets, West Wales Rover Tickets and All Wales Concessionary Travel Passes as they would on other bus services in the Town.
For passengers starting their journey at Nantyci Car Park, parking remains FREE and the special offer of a £1 day return ticket will still be available for those travelling to the Town Centre or the Hospital, with free travel for children under 16 if accompanied by an adult buying or using a £1 ticket. All Wales Concessionary Travel Pass holders will still be able to travel for free from and to the car park on production of a valid Travel Pass.
The revised service continues to be funded by Carmarthenshire County Council and the new facility to and from the Hospital has been made possible thanks to funding from the Hywel Dda University Health Board which has worked with the County Council to enhance the Park-and-Ride service.
